One of the reasons I adore being a Cleveland elopement photographer is the unpredictability. Some couples spend months planning, while others call with just days to spare. Megan was one of those brides. She reached out on a Wednesday with a message I’ll never forget: “We love your work. Can you shoot our elopement in two days and find us an officiant?!”
Of course, the answer was yes.
A Last Minute Love Story
When Megan and Landon decided to elope, the only thing set in stone was their overnight stay at the Crowne Plaza at Playhouse Square. They didn’t have a ceremony plan, an officiant, or even a location. But that’s the beauty of elopements — they’re about heart, not logistics. Within hours, the team was pulling everything together to make sure their day was just as meaningful as any full-scale wedding.
Crowne Plaza went above and beyond, upgrading their room to a suite and giving us access to the outdoor area near the iconic Playhouse Square chandelier. This location was especially significant for Megan, who chose Cleveland specifically because of that chandelier. With less than 48 hours’ notice, the hotel rolled out the red carpet.
The Ceremony
On Friday evening, after the sun began to set over downtown, the officiant delivered a heartfelt ceremony that was intimate, personal, and beautifully reflective of Megan and Landon’s love story. At 7pm, in the glow of city lights and beneath the chandelier, they exchanged vows. It was romantic, spontaneous, and exactly what they had envisioned: fun, meaningful, and entirely their own.
Downtown Portraits
After the ceremony, we spent an hour running around downtown Cleveland, turning the city into their canvas. The energy was electric. People cheered from sidewalks, cars honked in celebration, and Megan and Landon laughed through it all. The wind was wild, champagne was sprayed, and yes — Megan’s veil flew off at least twice. But instead of feeling chaotic, it felt perfect. Every unplanned detail became part of the story.

This day reminded me why I love working as a Cleveland elopement photographer. Whether it’s a carefully chosen destination or a spontaneous downtown adventure, elopements strip away the extras and focus on what matters most: two people, madly in love, committing their lives to each other. Megan and Landon’s wedding was proof that you don’t need months of planning to create something unforgettable.
Their elopement was romantic, playful, and beautifully unique — the kind of day that reminds me why I love what I do.
Planning Your Own Cleveland Elopement
Thinking about eloping in Cleveland? Here’s what helps:
Marriage license: In Ohio, couples can get a marriage license at the Probate Court in the county where either partner lives (or, for non-residents, the county where the ceremony will take place). There’s no waiting period, and the license is valid for 60 days.
Officiants: Like Megan and Landon, you can absolutely book one last-minute. Local officiants are often very flexible on timing. We’re happy to recommend a few we love working with.
Locations: Playhouse Square is one of our favorite downtown backdrops (that chandelier!), but Cleveland has no shortage of options. The Cleveland Museum of Art steps, the Flats waterfront, or even a quiet rooftop with a skyline view all make for stunning, low-logistics elopement settings.
Timeline: Most elopements we shoot run 1-3 hours total, which means you can plan one with as little as a few days’ notice or build it into a longer trip if you’re traveling in just for the day.
