7am engagement photos in the city is always a good idea.
7am in Columbus, Ohio in the Short North and Scioto Mile is an even better idea. Holy moly, was the light perfect and the backdrop stunning!
When Alexis told me she was engaged and wanted me to shoot her wedding I was ecstatic. I photographed her senior pictures in what feels like a lifetime ago. And if you know me you know I really love creating meaningful connections with whoever I photograph so to be able to follow her on this journey from high school to adulthood is really special for me.
When I met Noah he told me he had never had any professional photos taken of him…ever. Like a lot of guys he opted out of senior photos (sorry mom!). So he was nervous that this experience could be, well, miserable. It took him like 3 seconds for him to turn into a male model and creative director. I knew he had it in him!
To get the best light and avoid people/traffic/craziness we decided to meet at sunrise at the Short North in Columbus. Alexis said she left their house in complete darkness so she was questioning my sanity, but decided to trust the process and put all of her faith into me knowing what the heck I was doing for these engagement photos. I’m glad she did.
The images are romantic and editorial, with movement sprinkled in. We talked and laughed the entire time, and I commented at least three times about how incredible Alexis’ crystal blue eyes are. Noah told me he *actually* had fun and if that isn’t the seal of approval I just don’t know what is.
